Four improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were discovered by the elements of the 46th Infantry Battalion (46IB), 8th Infantry Division (8ID), foiling the alleged planned attack of the New People’s Army (NPA) on government forces in the Calbiga, Samar, Monday.
The military received information from a concerned civilian that the NPA rebels were planning to ambush using the IEDs the troops of 46IB who were serving as frontliners in battling the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
The mines were placed along the only trail connecting the villages of Hubasan and Binanggaran of said municipality.
