Northern Ireland: Suspicious object in Lurgan, County Armagh an ‘elaborate hoax’


A suspicious object that led to a security alert in Lurgan, County Armagh, was an “elaborate hoax,” the police have said.

Several residents had to leave their homes when the object was discovered in the Manor Drive area of the town at about 07:35 GMT on Monday.

Two Army bomb disposal robots examined the object before it was taken away for further forensic examination.

The alert has now ended and residents have been allowed back to their homes.
