A controlled explosion has been carried out during a security alert in east Belfast after a “viable pipe bomb type device” was found, police have said.
A number of homes were evacuated when the device was discovered in the Dundela Street area on Tuesday morning.
The police and ammunition technical officers (ATO) remain at the scene and the operation is continuing.
