Officers of the fireworks team of the Zuid-Holland Zuid district of the Rotterdam Unit arrested two men for trafficking in illegal fireworks after an investigation on Thursday 7 November.
It concerns two men aged 57 and 37 from Vuren and Herwijnen. This happened in Herwijnen, Gelderland, after a search of a business premises and a garage box. Here, the officers of the fireworks team found a quantity of 1050 kg of illegal fireworks. This catch prompted the Cross-Border Police Team (GPT) to immediately raid a storage facility in Hüven, Germany. During that search, more than 35,000 kg of heavy professional fireworks were found that were ready for the illegal Dutch market. More arrests in this investigation are not excluded.
