Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician selected for command sergeant major

ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Maryland – A Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician was selected for the U.S. Army command sergeant major program.

Sgt. Maj. Stephen P. Cunningham will become the senior enlisted leader for the Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington-headquartered 3rd Ordnance Battalion (EOD), which commands six Army EOD companies stationed in Washington State, California and West Texas.

A seasoned combat veteran, Cunningham previously served as the sergeant major supporting the Secretary of the General Staff at the 20th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives (CBRNE) Command, the U.S. Department of Defense’s premier all hazards formation. From 19 bases in 16 states, Soldiers and civilians from 20th CBRNE Command take on the world’s most dangerous hazards in support of military operations and and civil authorities.
