Bomb disposal experts have been alerted to a situation developing off the coast of Shanklin this lunchtime (Saturday).
A small fishing boat with 2 people on board has dragged up what is thought to be a piece of war time ordnance – a bomb.
The vessel is located just off the coast of the Isle of Wight within eyesight from Shanklin Esplanade.
Other boats in the area have been alerted to the danger and are being advised to stay clear. As it stands there are no cordons at Shanklin beach.
