Foreign tourists who visited geothermal bathing lagoons during their stay in Iceland have received false positive results during screening for explosives or hazardous substances at Keflavík Airport.
A tourist who was recently travelling around Iceland raised the issue in a Facebook group with nearly 500,000 members.
The post prompted considerable discussion, with others reporting similar experiences. The subject has also been discussed on other social media platforms, including Reddit.
Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) is an additional screening procedure for which passengers are randomly selected after security checks and passport control.
