The security of international airmail will be strengthened through expanded cooperation between the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Universal Postal Union (UPU), as announced through a Joint Statement today.
This marks a new milestone in global efforts, bringing together the two areas of expertise to confront evolving threats and enhance the security and resilience of global airmail operations. The Joint Statement outlines a shared vision for enhanced cooperation between ICAO and UPU, including efforts aimed at further aligning their respective security frameworks. This cooperation promotes policies that encourage innovation in screening technologies, improved personnel training, and better information sharing between postal and aviation authorities.
