Police in Cologne have a suspect in custody and are hunting for another after an explosion in the early hours of Wednesday destroyed a cafe.
But police investigators don’t believe the suspects are involved in a series of other mysterious blasts that have unsettled the western German city in recent weeks. Local residents reported hearing a blast in the outlying district of Pesch around 2:45 am (0045 GMT), according to Cologne police.
