The 500-kilogram unexploded ordnance from the Second World War is to be defused on Wednesday (12 October).
On the Twitter channel of the Frankfurt fire brigade, Alexander Majunke of the explosive ordnance clearance service recently stated that it was not yet known what ignition was on the explosive device. The bomb is currently still encrusted with dirt, which can only be removed when the exclusion zone around the site has been evacuated.
By 9 o’clock in the morning, the evacuation should have taken place on Wednesday. After that, the dirt is removed and it will be decided whether there is a hand defusing or a remote defusing, whether a waterjet cutting device is used – or whether an explosion is necessary, explained the expert.
