PIÑON CANYON MANEUVER SITE, Colo. — Twelve of the best EOD teams, representing three battalions, 11 bases and eight states converged at Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site over a week in April 2021 for the 2021 EOD Team of the Year competition.
The Army EOD Team of the Year event is designed to improve readiness of EOD professionals. The participants honed their skills in a physically and mentally demanding environment as EOD technicians, and improved their abilities to respond to situations, enabling them to better perform their duties at home and in a deployed environment.
“These guys come in here, they work incredibly hard (and) they show off how great they are — it takes a lot of effort to put one together … This, in my opinion, is the best EOD Team of the Year Competition I’ve ever witnessed,” said Command Sgt. Maj. David John Silva, senior enlisted leader, 71st Ordnance Group (Explosive Ordnance Disposal).
