Juan Camilo Restrepo, High Commissioner for Peace, confirmed that the National Army dismantled a clandestine factory of antipersonnel mines in Vista Hermosa, Meta Department.
“Gratitude forever to the Colombian Army for this news. It prevents future two thousand victims of this crime as heinous as anti-personnel mines, ” said the Peace Commissioner when confirming the operation, carried out by members of the Joint Task Force Omega, platoon 3, and the Battalion of Humanitarian Demining Engineers.
In addition to improvised explosive devices, abundant material for its manufacture were found in the place, such as PVC pipes, safety fuse, detonators, cables, syringes and batteries. All those elements were destroyed.
