Charges filed against Olentangy students accused of making bombs


Columbus Fire says two high school students were charged with unlawful possession of dangerous ordnance, a fifth-degree felony, after an investigation of a discarded improvised explosive device.

CFD said other students may face charges as the investigation continues.

Columbus Fire Chief Kevin O’Connor said in a release that Delaware County Sheriff’s deputies, CPD, and CFD Bomb Squad responded a report of an explosive device found in the area of Arrow Feather Lane in southern Delaware County on June 15th.

When crews arrived on scene, they found an “improvised explosive device” attached to a fire extinguisher. CFD said their bomb squad technicians rendered the improvised explosive safe, and Columbus Division of Fire, Fire and Explosives investigators began investigating the incident.
