Cambodia: Over 1,500 CMAC specialists absorbed into Armed Forces wing

There are 1,504 trained deminers in the framework of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and plans are underway to add another 100 more next year, said Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) director-general Heng Ratana.

In thanking the government and the Minister of Defence for supporting the request of the CMAC to include the CMAC deminers into the RCAF wing, Ratana said the move will go a long way to help these deminers get the pension benefits.

He added that the talks to integrate the officers of the CMAC unit into the framework of the RACF took more than 10 years and this was made possible under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen with whom meetings on the matter were held more than 100.
