Cambodia Mine Action Center (CMAC) and Norwegian People Aid (NPA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday, granting $1.6 million for cluster munition clearance and surveys.
NPA resident representative to Cambodia Rune Kristian Dale-Andresen and CMAC director-general Heng Ratana signed the MoU at the CMAC headquarters in Phnom Penh yesterday to implement the project “for cluster munitions remnants survey and clearance in eastern Cambodia” for a one-year period which began on March 1 this year.
Ratana said this MoU will facilitate the clearance of 23.7 square kilometres of land contaminated with cluster munitions and survey over 35 square kilometres.
