On Monday, August 15, 2022, at approximately 9:04 PM, Pomona Police Dispatch received a call from Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center Security staff. Security staff advised dispatch they located a PVC pipe with endcaps and a fuse on person who was brought into the hospital by ambulance from the City of West Covina. Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center explosives detection K9 alerted on the object. Pomona Police Officers arrived on scene and set up a perimeter and contacted L.A.S.D. Bomb Squad.
Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center was not evacuated but as a precaution the main entrance to the emergency room was shut down and ambulances were rerouted to other local hospitals for approximately one hour. Orange Grove Av. Was shut down between Artesia St. and Tate Av.
The L.A.S.D. Bomb Squad responded to the location and rendered the device safe and took possession of the device.
