California: Bomb squad called after traffic stop uncovers explosive devices and illegal firearms


A routine traffic stop on April 15 led officers to uncover homemade explosives and firearms, resulting in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of additional weapons and bomb-making materials at multiple locations in the Northstate.

On Tuesday, April 15, officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Garberville Area stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and discovered the driver had a suspended license. The vehicle was subsequently impounded, and during an inventory search, officers located a bag containing homemade explosive devices. CHP said the Humboldt County Regional Bomb Squad responded to the scene and confirmed the items were destructive devices under California law. Additionally, two firearms were also found in the vehicle.
