Bomb squad swoops on a primary school and detonate three suspicious packages found in Luton

Bomb squad cops swooped on a primary school yesterday after three suspicious packages were discovered in the grounds.

Locals feared explosives had been planted in an underpass  – and cops found two other similar packages at nearby Whitefield Primary School in Luton.

They heard three loud explosions as Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams safely neutralised the packages.

Others claimed a fourth package had been found and deemed harmless.

Detectives are now investigating where the packages came from after they were discovered on Luton Road off Stockholm Way at around 6pm on Friday 11 August.
