Australia: Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews warns the threat of terrorism is not gone

Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews says Australia “cannot be complacent” when it comes to terrorism amid ongoing lockdowns and the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan.

It comes as the Home Affairs Minister is seeking new powers to prevent terrorists from committing an attack.

Ms Andrews discussed the recent stabbing attack in Auckland, which saw at least six people wounded by an ISIS-inspired man.

“He (the attacker) had been closely monitoring what had been happening in Afghanistan,” she told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
