Bomb squad police have swarmed a quiet street in Wagga after a disturbing swath of weaponry and improvised explosives was found in a home. Police raided the NSW Riverina home on Thursday, uncovering a huge cache of improvised explosive devices, homemade firearms and ammunition. Following the discovery of the homemade devices, the police bomb disposal unit was called in to assess the devices, which were declared safe.

Specialist police are being called to deal with a soaring number of home-made explosives in Queensland. Calls for help to the Explosive Ordnance Response Team increased by 63 per cent from 2005 to 2011 and almost 160 per cent from 2012 to 2015.
