The Taliban said they were ready to war with Iran over a water dispute and sent thousands of troops and hundreds of suicide bombers to the area, according to a person familiar with the matter.
This came amid a rising dispute over Helmand’s water river between Taliban authorities and Iranian officials. Meanwhile, Tehran has warned the Taliban, urging them to respect the 1973 agreement or face the consequences.
