Police evacuated several properties after receiving reports of a ‘suspicious item’ in Rusholme today.
Officers closed Wilmslow Road at its junctions with Claremont Road and Dickenson Road following the discovery this afternoon.
People were being asked to avoid the area.
A bomb squad was called to the scene, where they carried out a “controlled explosion” within the cordon. It has not been confirmed yet what the item was.
