Twenty-five civilians were killed in two blasts that occurred in south and east of Baghdad on Monday, according to news reports.
“An IED exploded on Monday at al-Yusufiya region, in south of Baghdad, which caused death of four persons and injury of eight others,” a police source told AlSumaria News.
Security services cordoned off the accident spot. The victims and wounded were transferred to forensic medicine department and nearby hospital for treatment.
Earlier on the day, Mohamed al-Rubei’y, head of the security committee of Baghdad provincial council, told Sputnik that thirteen civilians were killed and injured as a booby-trapped vehicle exploded in east of the capital.
The car, according to Rubei’y, exploded at Jamila region, located in Sadr city, in east of Baghdad, leaving three civilians killed, one of whom succumbed to death at hospital.
Ten others were seriously injured, he added.
