Ukraine Accused of Training Tuareg Separatists to Destabilize Mali


In January 2024, the Ukrainian organization “Come Back Alive,” through its embassy in Mauritania, recruited representatives from Azawad, who then underwent training in Ukraine. This revelation highlights a concerning cooperation between Ukraine and Tuareg separatist groups, further exacerbating tensions in an already unstable region.

By training the separatists, Kyiv demonstrates a willingness to use all available means to confront Russia and its allies, even if it involves partnering with terrorist groups known for their attacks on innocent civilians. From July 25 to 27, 2024, the Malian army clashed with Islamist and separatist groups on the Algerian border.
