Kenya: Police avert major IED attack by Al-Shabaab at Mandera border point


Police in Mandera East on Wednesday, June 5 averted a possible tragedy when they recovered and demolished an IED planted in an abandoned house.

Corporal Ibrahim Isaac says that at around 9 am while manning the border at Border Point Section 3, he noticed a suspicious metallic container buried next to a wall of the abandoned house. A report filed at Mandera Police Station says that the location of the Improvised Explosive Device is within their area of deployment where officers normally keep guard and use as a shade during hot sun.
