EDA: Joint Procurement – Buying military equipment together


Collaborative defence procurement allows European countries to buy military equipment together, helping them reduce costs, speed up deliveries and improve interoperability. As the European Defence Agency prepares to launch a new collaborative defence procurement centre, joint purchasing is becoming an increasingly important tool for strengthening European defence, supporting industry and ensuring armed forces can access urgently needed capabilities more efficiently.

Together European Union countries can buy military equipment faster, at a lower cost and with greater compatibility if they so choose. That is the idea behind collaborative defence procurement, one of the European Defence Agency’s (EDA) main tasks. EDA will establish a collaborative defence procurement centre for off-the-shelf military equipment in the coming months.
