After a joint investigation involving local and federal law enforcement, two young adults have been arrested in connection with the construction and detonation of homemade explosive devices in Fairfield.
On Dec. 1, at approximately 12:25 p.m., the Fairfield Police Department was alerted by a hospital to a young adult male with severe hand injuries from an explosive device. The patient admitted to creating and setting off the devices with an accomplice earlier that day. The investigation, carried out by Fairfield Police, the FBI, and the Stamford Police Department Bomb Squad, found that four explosive devices were made using materials sourced online and from retail stores.
