On January 19, ICITAP Counter-IED Advisors delivered Burkina Faso’s Groupe Spéciale d’Intervention de la Police Nationale (GSIPN) its first-ever explosives safety and demolition range instruction, marking a historic milestone in ICITAP’s engagement with the Burkinabe National Police.
This session was part of the ICITAP-sponsored “Improvised Explosives Device Awareness & Operations” Course, held at Camp Badnogo from January 12 to 23, 2026, and one of 23 modules designed to build comprehensive Counter-IED capabilities. Students received classroom instruction on the safe handling and administrative requirements for operating a demolition range, coupled with hands-on practical exercises where they safely executed demolition procedures under ICITAP guidance.
