Brazil: Explosive device found on Copacabana


The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro coordinated a specialized operation on Monday, April 13, 2026, to remove an explosive device found on the Copacabana beach boardwalk.

The intervention occurred at the site where crews are currently building the stage for a free concert by Colombian singer Shakira. Authorities confirmed the object was detected during the morning hours in a high-traffic pedestrian area. The discovery prompted an immediate response from local law enforcement to secure the perimeter and ensure public safety
