The Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) has expressed deep concern over a cluster munition blast that injured three electricity workers in Oddar Meanchey province, leaving some with serious injuries.
CMAA said it is ready to support the victims through coordination, medical care, rehabilitation, and other assistance services, while urging relevant stakeholders to coordinate more closely with mine action operators before undertaking activities in affected areas. The January 29 incident occurred in Banteay Ampil district while the workers were connecting an electrical network. The incident highlights the serious and indiscriminate harm caused by remnants of munitions from recent clashes, even to those with no involvement in the conflict.
