Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the UK’s longest-serving monarch, has died. She was 96.
She died peacefully on Thursday afternoon at her Scottish estate.
The Queen came to the throne in 1952. She witnessed enormous social change and became for many the one constant point in a rapidly changing world providing comfort and continuity.
Her reign was marked by her strong sense of duty and her determination to dedicate her life to her throne and to her people.
