Washington: Live grenade found inside home on Mercer Island


A live hand grenade found inside a Mercer Island home Friday morning was safely removed by explosives experts.

According to the Mercer Island Police Department, at about 11:30 a.m. on February 9, a family was cleaning the house after his death and found a hand grenade in his military trunk. Bomb disposal technicians said they believed it was a Japanese Type 97 grenade from the Korean War.
