UK: Huge crater in Huddersfield school field after bomb squad blow up ‘volatile chemicals’


A massive crater has been left on Newsome High School’s playing fields after the army carried out a controlled explosion there today (Thursday).

YorkshireLive understands a ‘volatile chemical’, which needed disposing of, was found in a cupboard at the University of Huddersfield this morning.

West Yorkshire Police was notified of its discovery and the Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was drafted in to carry out a controlled explosion.
