Bomb disposal units were called to the beach at Sandwich Bay yesterday to detonate an ordinance.
The coastguard was called to the discovery on Friday (February 19) but no further action was taken.
But the following day, the rescue service was re-tasked, this time accompanied by the army.
Coastguard crews from Margate and Deal returned to assist the bomb disposal team to locate the object yesterday morning (Saturday, February 20).
