Northern Ireland: Improvised explosive device taken from scene of Londonderry security alert


An improvised explosive device (IED) has been recovered from the scene of a security alert in Londonderry.

Police were called to Barrs Lane in the Ballymagroarty area of the city at around 10.55am on Monday. PSNI Detective Inspector O’Flaherty said a suspicious object located in a property in the area “has been declared as an improvised explosive device”. “[It] has been removed and taken away for further forensic examinations,” DI O’Flaherty added.
