Kansas: Wichita police bomb squad responds after homemade pipe bomb is found in empty lot

A homemade pipe bomb found in an empty lot in Newton drew response from both Newton and Wichita police.

A Newton police offer responded to a call of a “suspicious device” around 6:15 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of N. Sherman, a Newton Police Department social media post said. The officer examined the device and thought it was a homemade pipe bomb, the post said.
