Italy: Unexploded World War II bombs found in Milan

The EOD technicians from 10th Engineer Regiment of the Italian Army are planning to render safe three American 500-pound World War II bombs, which were found in the vicinity of Rubattino 95, Tangenziale Est – A51 in Milan.

“The specialists will remove the trigger devices on the spot and then transport, with the help of the traffic police, the neutralized devices to the blasting site”, reads a note from the prefecture. The blasting operations will be carried out on Monday 5 December in an extraction quarry, located in the same municipality.

The 10th Engineer Regiment has already built the containment structures around the bombs, which, in the event of an accidental explosion, will reduce the radius of the damage area from 826 to 468 meters.
