The Chinese army will help Cambodia in clearing landmines and other UXOs in an upcoming military drill.
Prime Minister Hun Sen said making Cambodia, a country once torn by civil war, to be landmine-free has always been a goal of the government to protect people’s lives and provide them with more arable lands, and his government wants to achieve that goal by 2025 by any means.
“I am accelerating the removal of the remaining explosive, and even when I was meeting with the Minister of Defence of China, I asked him for the Chinese army assistance to Cambodia in disposing of landmines, in addition to the support granted to Cambodia by the Chinese government to ensure that no landmine will remain in Cambodia by 2025,” he said.
