Police evacuate homes following reports of unexploded hand grenade


Police have this evening (May 13) evacuated a number of homes after reports were received of an unexploded hand grenade.

Officers are currently at the scene at an address in Warrington following the discovery of a grenade.

The explosive device has been found at the former site of RAF Burtonwood on Livingston Close.

Six homes have been evacuated and temporary accommodation is available at Westbrook Old Hall School.

It’s believed that the grenade could be a device dating back to World War Two.
