French fishermen shocked to find ‘Dangerous’ WW2 bomb in their net


The unusual find sparked an emergency call out from the maritime authorities and an emergency evacuation of the crew.

The discovery took place four kilometres from the Grancamp-Maisy port, in the Calvados area.

Although the bomb had been on the seabed for 70 years, it still posses danger as “any movement” can lead to an explosion, according to the authorities.

A maritime expert told Info Normandie: “Any simple movement, especially with the trawler, can suffice to strike its leader and ignite the military load it contains.”

The officials have warned that a simple movement of the boat can be enough to ignite the dangerous bomb.
