Clevedon Asda bomb incident: “Pack an overnight bag” Residents describe moment they were evacuated by police


Residents close to Asda in Clevedon have spoken about the moment police knocked on their doors and told them to pack an overnight bag and leave their house.

This was in response to an ordnance being found near to the supermarket, which was believed to be an unexploded bomb from World War II.

A 100-yard exclusion area was put in place on Saturday evening (August 19), as EOD (explosives ordnance department) disposal experts arrived at the scene.

It meant an evening of disruption for some that lived close to the store.
