The two terror attacks in Spain have been linked to a house explosion in the tourist district of Alcanar.
One person was killed in the blast in Alcanar, about 100 miles southwest of Barcelona, on Wednesday night.
he explosion, in the village of Alcanar Platja, also injured seven people, including some foreigners from France, Italy and Morocco, TV3 reported.
Police have since said they suspect those in the house were “preparing an explosive device”.
The explosion came a day before a van attack killed at least 13 people in the Barcelona city centre.
Hours after the rampage, a second vehicle attack unfolded in the seaside town of Cambrils, around 60 miles southwest of Barcelona.
Catalan police said they shot dead five suspects who ran over people in a car. Seven people were hurt, but no one was killed.
Catalan authorities say the attacks and the explosion are all linked.
